They often take place in romantic or adventurous settings, such as a mountaintop, a beach, or a secluded forest, making the experience more private and meaningful.
A cozy gathering refers to a small, warm, and intimate event with close friends and family. Unlike large, formal celebrations, a cozy gathering creates a relaxed and personal atmosphere where guests can connect and enjoy meaningful moments together. It often takes place in a comfortable setting, such as a private home, a charming restaurant, or a rustic venue, with soft lighting, warm décor, and a focus on quality time rather than elaborate arrangements.
A lavish Croatian wedding is defined by scale and stamina. Guest lists commonly run past 200, drawing in extended family, friends and neighbours, and the celebrating often begins days ahead with traditional customs like the playful negotiation for the bride. Expect live tamburica or orchestral folk music, a multi-course feast built around prosciutto, roast lamb and cabbage rolls, and homemade rakija flowing through every toast. The bride’s arrival is an event in itself — a decorated car, fireworks, sometimes a horse-drawn carriage. Between the shouted “Živjeli!”, the plate broken for luck and the dancing for money, the party typically runs until sunrise. The whole thing is less a ceremony than a marathon of joy shared with everyone the couple knows.
